Enjoyed my one-night stay at this lovely hotel. I found it “oldy-worldy” in the best kind of way. I was in an attic room (room 25, family room) with no view. It had an ensuite with shower over the bath. No lift to the attic rooms, but that is well publicized. Breakfast was very good, served in a sunny room with a nice view. There was a choice of cooked food and continental breakfast. Great location in Dartmouth.
Browns Hotel is a charming, independently run property located just 656 feet from the Dartmouth waterfront. Free WiFi is accessible throughout.

We loved the hotel, the room was really comfortable! The restaurant was perfect, they dealt with my dairy intolerance really easily! There was nothing I wanted but couldn't have! Nothing was ever too much trouble! This was the second time we've visited Dartmouth and stayed in Browns and both times they have exceeded our expectations!

My experience staying at Townstal Farmhouse was nothing short of exceptional. My room in the 16th century building was comfortable and the English breakfast was delightful, every aspect of my stay was top-notch. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a memorable and enjoyable stay in the city.

For a 3 day visit there are plenty of places nearby to visit, including a couple of national trust places (Greenways, Agatha Christies house; and another county home., art deco and with impressive views from the gardens). Brixham was a surprisingly great find too.

Wonderful little town.
Wonderful little town. Very picturesque and some nice hidden nooks and crannies. Enjoyed several river trips, visited Agatha Christies holiday home by boat which was lovely . Some nice pubs in Dartmouth particularly the Seven Stars - oldest pub in town and good food and beer!
Will plan another trip soon!

Being February it wasn't beach weather and we only did a two night mid-week trip. We visited the charming local museum and strolled around the narrow streets and local shops. Dartmouth is built on two sides of a valley but if you don't like walking up hill there is a regular bus to take you around town. We took advice and booked restaurants ahead. The Royal Castle Hotel offers a really good menu in a pub setting where the food and service were excellent. We also ate at the Embankment where the menu is not so traditional but the food was excellent. We took a boat trip with a very entertaining and informative commentary. Sadly the steam train from Kingswear wasn't running mid-week out of season but we drove to Buckfast Abbey which is well worth a visit. Finally we lunched at Rockfish, majoring in fish of course, another excellent meal to set us up for the drive home.

Loved being by the river.
Loved being by the river. Ferries for vehicles or on foot very close to Bayards and reasonably priced.
Ample gift shops, food stores, museums, Information Building (excellent staff) to help.
Walks and historical landmarks nearby, Bayards Cove, Dartmouth Castle (a bit expensive for what we saw and cafe closed an hour earlier than the castle), historical walks to castle.
Plenty of pubs, eating houses etc.
Some restaurants exceptionally expensive but with so many £m's of pounds worth of yachts and boats in harbour, they would cater for everyone.
River cruise lovely to Ditsmarsh there and back, viewing Agatha Christie's house alongside the river.
Could probably stay a week (as opposed to 3 nights) and still enjoy Dartmouth.
Was told that February/March is a good time to visit as Dartmouth is not "too full" and you can get into the pubs and restaurants without queueing. However, some river boats not operating until March/April or May but there were adequate amounts operating for number of people in Dartmouth during February.
The property was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. Access to the property is easy via a small footpath from the nearby on-site car-parking (about 150 metres). The site is served by a regular bus service (Stagecoach 92) between Dartmouth and Totnes (every two hours except on Sundays when the service is severely limited) but the service ends rather early in the evening. Access by car is very easy and there is plenty of free on-site parking.
Property was beautiful. It was clean and the breakfast was outstanding. Neil was a fantastic host and looked after us very well. Beautiful views from the dining room of the hills, Dartmouth and Dart. Would be lovely eating out there during the Summer. The property is high up but we are good walkers so didn’t cause us any issues. Taxis and buses are also an option. Great for parking too which is a godsend in Dartmouth.
Rose and Shaun are excellent hosts. Breakfasts were delicious, fresh fruit salads, Rose's homemade preserves a plus as were Shaun's scrambled eggs and omelettes. Their knowledge of the area is extensive, which helped make our days out more enjoyable. Dartmouth has a lot to offer, and we certainly recommend staying at Mounthaven Guest House to enjoy it.
Lovely property, nicely furnished and comfortable. Central location in Dartmouth with harbour close by plus Marks and Spencer and restaurants round the corner. Lovely terrace with some views of Kingswere. Bedrooms were lovely with wonderful views and beds were very comfortable. Ideal downstairs bedroom en-suite for my dad who is 86.
The hotel is amazing - full of history and quirky antiques (plus ghosts apparently!) - and is situated right in the heart of Dartmouth. The breakfast was really superb - hot, fresh and full of flavour. The rooms are large, clean and well-decorated but with very wonky floors due to their age! Staff were welcoming and very friendly.
Really well thought out room with nice touches for design and comfort. Really easy to get keys etc and a wonderful central Dartmouth location. The room had everything we could need for our weekend stay and was the perfect base for us. When we saw Noal he was welcoming and friendly without being overbearing - just right!
The hotel is in a side street and fairly quiet. The room was comfortable and the bathroom was fine. The restaurant is closed on Sunday evenings so can't comment on dinner but breakfast was good. Staff very friendly and helpful. A little on the dear side - but Dartmouth is.
The hotel was quite special, it was what i was hoping it would be, the owner and staff were so helpful and friendly, took time to talk you, even though they were busy, always a pleasant atmosphere, food was very good. Look forward to going there again in the near future.
All round a really friendly hotel / B&B

Location spot on. Once you figure out the parking in Dartmouth it was easily managed. Lady in tourist information really helpful. Great breakfast selection and well cooked/presented. Room facilities just right.
Perfect Hotel with perfect staff! Very friendly and polite. Would definitely return to visiting Dartmouth again.
Would have loved if they could have offered breakfast, however they did tell us of places to go.
Very well located for the centre of Dartmouth, comfortable living space and good sized bedrooms. Lovely decor and it was warm and cosy. It felt very relaxing and we enjoyed staying there.
Quirky and comfortable accomodation in great location near the river front in Dartmouth. Very friendly staff, nothing too much trouble.. Excellent breakfast. Parking permit included
Room was great so was the pool and spa facilities. Staff were friendly and helpful. Hotel ideally situated for getting to Dartmouth and Great Beach. Great Breakfast
Perfectly located in lovely central Dartmouth —easy walk to shops, cafe, harbor. Comfortable bed, excellent wifi, sweet pantry in room with coffee tea drinks snacks.
