The location was great. T he bedroom was ok but very dated. Comfortable bed a d nice outlook into the garden.
Reception staff on arrival very abrupt.
They allowed to leave our car there whilst we were out for the day in the day of leaving.

This Grand Old Dame of English seaside hotels is in sparkling condition throughout. She is not cheap - but she is an excellent hostess and she will fulfil your every wish if you let her. Some may find her old fashioned - but that is a major part of her charm. From Martinis in the afternoon to sunsets over the sea in the evening, she has everything you need for a relaxing weekend. The sound of the waves playing us to sleep at through an open window was an added bonus!

Our flight was delayed so we arrived after the restaurant closed. The owner and his wife made us welcome, even though they had closed for the night. They very kindly opened a bottle of wine and made us a wonderful dinner. Throughout the stay their hospitality was amazing. The owner would not let us walk to the bus stop, instead he very kindly drove us all the way to Sidmouth in his own car! They really could not have done more for us!

The staff was very very helpful. They gave us a room with an excellent view along the Esplanade. The breakfast was really good. We also liked that it was shoulder season and had fewer people. It was really nice walking into town and along the coastal trail.

Sidmouth is a lovely town. Plenty of well known shops to peruse. Plenty of eateries to try out. Lots of hotels of different styles to choose from. Views are fantastic and so is the beach. Fields department store has a wide range of favourite clothing labels to explore & hopefully purchase. A very good bus service can take you to lots of Devon places and further.

Good choice of hotels and good shops in the town if the weather isn't great. (Loads of really good charity shops!)
Not many restaurants are open in the evenings (especially early in the week) so you need to book in advance. Myca, Pea Green Boat and The Loft are all good. Much more choice at lunchtime and good coffee/tea shops with lovely cakes. The Scott cinema and Marine theatre are both sweet and worth a visit.
Buses go to a few places if you don't have a car - and seem to be very reliable.
Jacobs Ladder beach and the Connaught Gardens are well worth visiting and are nicer than the town beach yet still very close to the centre.
Be aware that rocks etc can fall from the cliffs! The Jurassic coastline is amazing but it can crumble suddenly.

Sidmouth was a beautiful little seaside town with plenty of places to eat and drink!
Dog friendly beach in winter and lots of dog-friendly pubs/cafes! Beach is shingle/large pebble so not for everyone, but there’s a promenade/path the whole way along!
Lots of nice little independent shops & charity shops!
Parking gets very busy so you’re better off parking in the ‘weekend and walk’ car park slightly outside town - not far at all!
We visited in February but I’ve been told is gets very busy from May onwards.
There is a folk festival on the first weekend of August every year which I hear is great (but very busy)!

Well Sidmouth out of season might not have a buzz, but it is my birth place and not having been back for a while i was happy my wife and i could spend some time here. With a fast changing world Sidmouth remains Sidmouth!
A beautiful hotel, well-situated for a seaside holiday, with ocean views, the town and beach an easy walk (and a number of exceptional hikes available leaving from the front door), and a delicious breakfast spread every morning as well as cooked-to-order dishes all included in what we felt was a very reasonable price.
Friendly, helpful and professional staff.
We obviously enjoyed our 6-day stay very much.
Thank you
We had room 35, perfect size , and bonus to us they allowed dogs, the room we had , was clean and had easy access to outside so that we could take our dog for a walk without the worry of disturbing anyone in the early hours. Right next to the hotel is a lovely walk along the river Sid. Room was very comfortable and breakfast was perfect, location also great , 5 min walk to Sidmouth coast
The hotel and the room were nicely decorated and clean, the bed was very comfortable, the staff very kind, the breakfast was an excellent, very good location. We wish we had a longer stay there!
Overall great experience and if we would go back to Sidmouth we would definitely stay again!
Over exceeded our expectations! Thank you very much!
Ideally situated, for us, for a stay in Sidmouth. Hotel was a short walk from town .
Lovely room, spacious and clean with comfortable bed.
Staff were really nice , friendly and helpful .
Very good choice at breakfast and cooked breakfast was excellent . We also had an evening meal which was very good and good value for money .
We stay here on a regular basis. It is dog friendly, the food is great and all of the staff are so friendly. Having the beach opposite the hotel is a real treat and walking distance to all of the shops and restaurants. Parking cn be tricky in the summer but during this stay, we were able to park outside the hotel.
Location was perfect for our break, WiFi connection was brilliant (very important to my teenager) dog friendly everywhere. Tennis court was in very good condition. Hosts very helpful, short walk into the village for the shop, pubs and takeaway. Can walk into Sidmouth on a footpath.
Lovely B&B in a peaceful setting just a couple of miles from Sidmouth. Wonderful breakfast with an unusually wide range of choices. Comfy bed, large room, nice big shower. Liz is a wonderful host--very welcoming and helpful.
The location is really nice and it has a sea view, also the night sky was amazing, you could see all the stars on a clear night. Also loved that the property is dog friendly and it's close to the donkey sanctuary.
Excellent room with lovely sea view. Breakfast excellent with plenty of choice particularly the poached egg options,(Benedict. Royale etc.) Enjoyed being able to sit out on the Kingswood Hotel Terrace.
It is not an hotel. It is a restaurant with rooms. Therefore it had limited facilities. We loved the quirky rooms and it’s position in Sidmouth. Very relaxed and the staff were delightful.
